LIFE PHOENIX

logo Comune di Bressanvido

The LIFE PHOENIX project (Life16/ENV/IT/000488) aims to demonstrate how a new interinstitutional governance system, supported by innovative forecast tools based on ongoing monitoring, can more effectively and efficiently manage the risk related to the diffusion of Persistent Mobile Organic Contaminants (PMOC) – with a particular focus on Per Fluorinated Alkyl Substance (PFAS). This system will help avoid, or at least reduce, public expenditure on damage caused by PMOC, which represents a major threat to public health through drinking and irrigation water. Project actions will involve impact assessment through monitoring, development of forecast modelling instruments, early warning tools, and mitigation measures. These actions will contribute to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, including its objectives to promote sustainable water use and pollution control measures, and also to some of the objectives of the Blueprint to Safeguard Europe’s Water Resources.

LIFE PALÙ QdP

The LIFE Project “Palù QdP” (LIFE17 – NAT/IT/507) have the objective of the recovery of the “Quartier del Piave” (QDP) threatened by the abandonment and the advance of intensive agriculture. The project try also to increase the presence of rare plant species; strengthen the presence of amphibians, reptiles and butterflies and develop innovative models of agro-forestry management of Palus.
The “Palù” of “Quartier Del Piave” (QDP) are an ecosystem with very high biodiversity, they appear as wet meadows delimited by hedges and canals that host numerous extremely important animal and plant species. The project is located in the province of Treviso and covers the territory of the municipalities of Farra di Soligo, Moriago della Battaglia, Sernaglia della Battaglia and Vidor.

WETNET

wetnet

The objective of the project is to improve the effectiveness of conservation policies for protected wetlands in the MED area. An institutional collaboration and a mechanism for the integration and coordination of the various political plans will be analyzed, tested and promoted. The project will also increase the knowledge on River Contracts effectiveness and strengthen existing transnational networks for sharing and disseminating information and good practices on wetlands’ preservation. The project started on 1 November 2016 and will be completed on 30 April 2019 (30 months). The project involves 6 Mediterranean countries (Slovenia, France, Malta, Portugal, Italy and Spain), where project activities will be implemented during 30 months of project duration.

LIFE SILIFFE

LIFE SILIFFE Project Improvement of the river and riparian habitats and fight against the alien water species in the Parco Regionale del Fiume Sile This project aims at assessing the ecosystem of the river and of all of its elements, implementing real interventions for the creation of pilot areas for the management of the riparian habitats and putting into effect the Park’s environmental plan providing specific and binding indications for the management of the habitats. In order to achieve these goals, effective actions have been defined, such as the application of the river functionality index to the whole Sile river course, the implementation of interventions aimed at improving the riparian habitats of the Natura 2000 Network, a plan to combat the spread of the alien water species (red swamp crawfish, pond slider, wells catfish) through capture of such species and through the strengthening of the competing autochthonous species, and the organization of meetings with the farmers to promote the agri-environmental measures of the Piano di Sviluppo Rurale Veneto 2014-2020 (Venetia’s Rural Development Plan 2014-2020).

LIFE AQUOR

LIFE+ AQUOR (LIFE 2010 ENV/IT/380) began in September 2011 and it finished in May 2015. It was conceived as a demonstration activity to foster a reversal of the current trend of groundwater overexploitation and to increase the hydro-geological recharge rate of aquifers. The purpose is to restore the groundwater balance in the Vicenza Upper Plain and to ensure the sustainable use of this resource by current and future generations. The initiative is based on the active involvement of stakeholders and it aspires to consolidate a shared commitment to the quantitative protection of the upper Vicenza’s plain, this is one of the most important groundwater reservoirs in Europe.

LIFE RII

logo Comune di Bressanvido

The RII project concerns the piedmont belt of the Apennines near Reggio Emilia, an area where the density of infrastructures and the high level of urbanization cause a high flood risk. The project aims at launching and testing the efficacy of some innovative strategies for land management together with experimental interventions aimed at restoring a safer path for water streams, more similar to their natural course, with the goal to improve their self-purification capacity and to improve the quality of waters and their ecological status. The Project has jointly been put forward by the Emilia-Romagna Region and by the Municipalities of Albinea, Bibbiano, Quattro Castella and San Polo d’Enza. The Consorzio di Bonifica dell’Emilia Centrale (Reclamation Consortium of Central Emilia) is actively involved in the implementation of the Project, with special reference to its design and management.

LIFE RINASCE

The LIFE RINASCE Project, approved by the EC in July 2014, aims to made demonstration purposes for environmental hydraulic restoration of some  Emilian drainage canals. The LIFE RINASCE project has the overall aim to show that the key concepts of the Water Framework Directive 2000/60 / EC and the Floods Directive 2007/60 / EC, may also be applied on the artificial water network, reducing the risk of floods and at the same time improving the ecological status of rivers. In this sense we will be experimented types of intervention to apply these concepts to the particular situation of drainage canals.

LIFE AQUALIFE

logo Comune di Bressanvido

The main objective of the AquaLife project is the development and dissemination of the AQUALIFE Package, which is an innovative and user-friendly indicator system to assess the biodiversity of groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs). GDEs are defined as those ecosystems whose biological structure and ecological processes are directly or indirectly influenced by groundwater. Subterranean aquatic ecosystems host a high, valuable biodiversity, comprising rare, often endemic and particularly vulnerable species. Many groundwater ecosystems and their biodiversity are thought to be at risk of impairment in all the European Union Member States (EU MSs). However, a tool to quantify biodiversity in subterranean habitats and in GDEs is still unavailable. Hence, the assessment of the loss in groundwater and GDE biodiversity associated with surface human activities remains de facto unknown. This in turn hampers the development of a management planning for the aquatic environment that should include groundwater to be truly all-encompassing and holistic.

The project started on January 1st 2018 and ended on July 31st 2020. The purposes of the PRO-BYKE projects concern the definition of quality measures and standards for the future harmonised and standardised coaching of cycling between Italy and Austria and the increasing of the use of bicycles in the analysed model regions.
The main purpose of the project is to harmonise and professionalise the promotion of cycling mobility in the territories involved, by intensifying the cross-border collaboration of the regions, provinces and municipalities with the implementation of pilot measures at the local level.
The project involved four partners: Lead Partner (VEN) Municipality of Vicenza, Klimabündnis Tirol, Bezirksgemeinschaft Burggrafenamt and UTI Valli e Dolomiti Friulane.
